Mid Year Academic Reports 2018-2019

Dibels

As parents, you will recieve DIBELS Math Reports (K-1) and DIBELS ELA reports (K-5). The purpose of these assessments is to monitor your child's development in mathematics and reading, to identify students needing additional help, and to guide the teacher's classroom instruction.

If your child is not on track, here are some questions that you may want to ask your teacher:

  • What are some skills and strategies that I can use at home to support my child?
  • What additional supports are being put into place to support my child in getting back on track?

If your child is on track, here are some questions that you may want to ask your teacher:

  • What are some skills and strategies that I can use at home to support my child in his or her continued growth?
  • What types of enrichment opportunities are available?

Acadience Reading is a universal screening and progress monitoring assessment that measures the acquisition of early literacy skills from kindergarten through fifth grade. The assessment is comprised of brief timed measures that function as indicators of the essential skills that every child must master to become a proficient reader. These measures are used to regularly monitor the development of early literacy skills in order to provide timely instructional support and prevent the occurrence of later reading difficulties. The 2018-2019 school year is the first year that QCSD students in grades K-5 are taking these assessments.

By design, the Acadience Reading measures are brief, powerful indicators of foundational early literacy skills that:

  • are quick and efficient to administer and score;
  • serve as universal screening (or benchmark assessment) and progress monitoring measures;
  • identify students in need of intervention support;
  • evaluate the effectiveness of interventions; and
  • support the RtI/Multi-tiered model.

Acadience™ Math is comprised of measures of early numeracy, computation, and problem solving that function as indicators of the essential skills that every child must master in order to become proficient in mathematics. The measures can be used to quickly and efficiently monitor the development of mathematics skills. Acadience Math is designed for use in identifying children experiencing difficulty in the acquisition of basic mathematics skills, in order to provide support early and prevent the occurrence of later mathematics difficulties.
