Quakertown, PA – On Monday, March 25, the Strayer Symphony Orchestra had the honor of performing in the East Wing of the Capitol as part of a Music in our Schools Month® celebration. Made up of 36 students, the Strayer Symphony Orchestra was one of 33 ensembles in the state of Pennsylvania selected to perform.
The event, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and the National Association for Music Education, is part of a month-long celebration of music in schools across the country. The goal of this initiative is to emphasize the importance of music education in schools.
"Music has impacted my school career because it taught me a lot about responsibility and helped me improve my time management,” said Logan Hudson, 7th-grade bass player. “I am very excited that we are getting this opportunity because it gives me a chance to play for people who are not families of people who play and people who live in the town.”

Led by Orchestra Director Megan K. Edinger, students prepared an hour-long program for attendees, including several selections from previous performances throughout the school year.
Honorable guests included Pennsylvania State Representative Craig Staats, who watched the performance and interacted with students.
The Strayer Symphony Orchestra will go on to perform their repertoire at the Music in the Parks event at Dorney Park on Friday, May 10.
“I love music and playing my instrument and I love sharing music with people,” said Emma Todorow, 7th-grade orchestra violinist.
“Music always makes me happy,” added Aesha Desai, another 7th-grade violinist.
