Quakertown Community High School (QCHS) is once again offering the highly popular AP Boot Camp for incoming 9th grade students who plan to take AP Human Geography for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. The three-day session, scheduled for August 6-8 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at QCHS, strengthens academic foundations and refines advanced learning skills for students. The focus is on team building, time management, AP-level reading, and note-taking skills. By performing the work to pass this college-level course, students learn the habits necessary to succeed in high school. Additionally, students will have time to ask questions and work on summer assignments. Students who previously completed the course will also be attending to discuss their experiences in the class. To register, please complete the AP Boot Camp registration form. AP Boot Camp is taught by Sean Burke, QCHS Social Studies teacher. In observation of Alcohol Awareness Month, Quakertown Community School District, Quakertown Borough Police and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) are holding a virtual meeting on April 24 at 7:00 p.m. for parents of middle school and high school students. MADD’s Power of Parents is a program that empowers parents to have ongoing and intentional conversations about the dangers and consequences of underage drinking and marijuana and other drug use. Each year, underage drinking is responsible for more than 4,300 deaths and can lead to early addiction as well as many other dangerous outcomes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Studies show that youth say their parents are the leading influence on their decisions about drinking. Please join us for this important and potentially life-saving conversation.
