PaPBS Network Tiers 1-2 Badge

The Pennsylvania Positive Behavior Support (PaPBS) Network is recognizing several schools in the Quakertown Community School District for exceptional implementation of School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) during the 2023-2024 school year.

Each of the schools is being recognized for demonstrating their dedication to using effective systems and practices that contribute to the well-being and success of their students. The honored school and their respective recognition levels include:

  •        Quakertown Community High School (Tier 1-2)

  •        Strayer Middle School (Tier 1-2)

  •        Sixth Grade Center (Tier 1-2)

  •        Pfaff Elementary School (Tier 1-2)

  •        Quakertown Elementary School (Tier 1-2)

  •        Richland Elementary School (Tier 1)

  •        Trumbauersville Elementary School (Tier 1-2)

QCSD Superintendent Matthew Friedman, Ed.D. said the implementation of SWPBIS has helped raise behavior outcomes throughout the district, which has created a more positive and productive learning environment for all students.

“These recognitions showcase the district’s commitment to successfully integrating practices essential for improving school climate, reducing behavioral issues, and enhancing student outcomes,” Dr. Friedman said. “This is a testament to the dedication of our administrators, teachers, and staff to fostering environments where students can thrive academically, behaviorally, and emotionally.”

The Tier 1-2 recognition is for those schools that have successfully implemented Tier 1 (universal supports) and Tier 2 (targeted supports) interventions, providing all students with a strong foundation of positive behavioral expectations and support where needed. Tier 1 (universal supports) recognizes those schools that have made significant strides in fostering a positive and inclusive environment through proactive behavioral strategies.

To be eligible for the honor, schools must meet several criteria including completion of an annual survey, attainment of 80 percent or higher on their Benchmarks of Quality Fidelity Measure (Initial), completion of a building-wide walkthrough with an external facilitator, attainment of 70 percent or higher on the Tiered Fidelity Inventory at each tier, an ongoing commitment to the PaPBS Community of Practice.

QCSD representatives presented at the statewide conference in past years. Quakertown Elementary and Trumbauersville Elementary representatives previously shared their knowledge with network partners, and Quakertown Community High School will present at the 2024 conference.
