Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Quakertown Community School District. We value your involvement and participation in our programs and trips. We recognize that volunteers can make valuable contributions to the school district and play a vital role which we are grateful for. Definitions of different volunteer categories can be found within QCSD Board Policy 916.
We encourage the use of volunteers subject to the requirements of applicable law and school policies. For the safety of our students, QCSD Board Policy 916 holds certain requirements for volunteers. Quakertown Community School District will continue to abide by federal and state law. If laws change requiring policy changes, the Human Resources Department will notify all stakeholders. The Quakertown Community School District reserves the right to go above and beyond what federal and state law requires, ensuring the safety of all students and staff.
Steps to Volunteer:
Make an account with AppGarden and upload your completed clearances. All volunteers are required to obtain the following clearances prior to volunteering.
Upload the following clearances (must be done within the last 5 years):
State Police Clearance - free
Child Abuse Clearance - free every 5 years
FBI Federal Criminal History Report - Volunteer Service code 1KG6ZJ - $23.25
Must be through the Department of Human Services for VOLUNTEERS, we can no longer accept Volunteer Clearances through the Department of Education per PDE.
Arrest / Conviction Report - A volunteer has the affirmative obligation to notify the QCSD Human Resources Manager if they are arrested or convicted of a crime after clearances have been initially submitted.
Volunteer TB Affirmation - Needed if volunteering for LESS than 10 hours a week
Tuberculosis (TB) Test results - Needed if volunteering for MORE than 10 hours a week
Board Policy 806 (Child Abuse Awareness and Reporting) Affirmation - Your electronic signature in app-garden serves as your acknowledgment that you have read and understand this policy.
Additional Requirement:
Volunteers who are arrested or convicted of an offense that would constitute grounds for denying employment to school employees or who have been named as a perpetrator in an indicated or founded report of child abuse must notify the school entity in which they volunteer. Failure to do so is a misdemeanor of the third degree.
