MLK Day of Service in QCSD

On Monday, January 18th there may be no school for students, but the Quakertown Community School District is honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Strayer National Junior Honor Society students have recorded various activities to share with QCSD's elementary students to use or watch today.

Please access Strayer's MLK Day of Service opportunities here.  See the MLK direct draw video here.

At Quakertown Community High School, the Social Justice Alliance students have scheduled Spark Talks with speakers from the local community about Systemic Racism (1 p.m.) and Giving Back (1:30 p.m.)

Students have been participating in several service-related events:

  • Nursing Home Cards: Volunteers will make cards at home to be delivered to residents of a local nursing home
  • Children's Book Read-a-longs: Record a video of yourself reading a children's book out loud in the spirit of MLK day. These videos will then be shared with QCSD's elementary schools
  • Donations for Valentine's Day Gift Baskets: Donate Valentine's Day candy and gifts (for various ages) for families in need
  • Walking While Black film showing and discussion: Register to attend a virtual event where we will view the film "Walking While Black," then engage in small-group discussions afterward. This event is sponsored by The Peace Center and local police officers
