Elementary Redistricting Committee Seeking Members

Dear Parents,

This fall, a community committee will tackle the work of developing a redistricting plan for QCSD that will be implemented in the Fall of 2021.  The work of our community committees has been invaluable in the 2014 elementary redistricting, redesigning the elementary report card, improving our facilities, reassigning students when Tohickon Valley was closed, improving school safety, and considering changes to our school start times - work that was interrupted by the pandemic shutdown, but will resume in the second half of this year!

The Redistricting Committee will begin work in mid-September, and will likely meet every other week until making its recommendations to the Board in January.  We would like each elementary building and the SGC to have two representatives on the committee, with one or more alternates.  Meetings will be virtual, at least initially, and will be open to the public to observe, similar to a board meeting.  The Board of School Directors will provide a specific charge to the committee that will guide and govern the committee’s work.  The committee will do its work within the boundaries of the Board’s charge, and will make recommendations to the Board for consideration and Board action.

If you are interested in serving on the committee, please complete this Interest Form and submit it by August 31, 2020.  If you have questions, please reach out to your building principal or to me at [email protected] and we would be happy to answer them.  Working with community committees has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career, and I look to working with you to develop a redistricting plan that reflects the values and best interests of Quakertown Community School District students and families.

Sincerely,

Nancianne Edwards

Assistant Superintendent
