BDA Cycles

Each teacher in the New Teacher Academy (NTA) program will engage in BDA cycles. These consist of three components:

  1. A"Before" meeting to determine the focus on the data collection.
  2. A"During" which is typically a data collection/observation of teaching.
  3. An"After" meeting in which the data is discussed and unpacked.

These sessions are confidential and driven by the participant, not the coach. The K12 Instructional Coach's role is to support the inquiry and discovery of practices towards growth in teaching. After each session, participants are asked to reflect on the experience with a focus on three questions:

  • What did I look for?
  • What did I learn?
  • What's next?
