Jan. 10, 2019: QCSD names new director of facilities

Rob Christine

Rob Christine, an employee of the Quakertown Community School District for 24 years, has been promoted to Director of Facilities.

"Nobody knows our facilities in and out like Rob," said Zach Schoch, the district's Chief Operating Officer. "He has shown a dedication and work ethic second to none, and has shown a care for our buildings like he would his own home."

Mr. Christine began his QCSD career in 1994 as a part time custodian, and became head custodian a year later. He transferred to the maintenance department in 1996, and was promoted to lead maintenance in 2011. In 2016 he was named maintenance supervisor.

On January 10, the School Board unanimously approved Mr. Christine's promotion. "How you rose up through the ranks is such a neat story," Director Kaylyn Mitchell said. "Congratulations."

Superintendent Dr. Bill Harner described Mr. Christine as a "leader, manager, an expert in the field of facilities. There's not a better person out there for us."

"I'm very thankful to the School Board, Dr. Harner and Mr. Schoch for this opportunity," Mr. Christine said. "I care a great deal about our district and will continue to do my best for our students and staff."

Mr. Christine replaces former Director of Facilities Kelly Harper, who resigned in September to take a similar position with the Pennridge School District. QCSD conducted a statewide search for a replacement, and interviewed seven candidates.

Before the hiring of Mr. Christine, the district named Craig Boltz, a consultant, interim director. Mr. Boltz was recommended by the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials. In 2013, as Director of Buildings and Grounds for the Lebanon School District, Boltz won PASBO's Gold Award for outstanding operations in facility management.
